While it’s important to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day anyway, it’s especially important after a skin procedure like dermaplaning. After revealing a new layer of skin, you want to protect it—and your results. Be sure to wear a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, even if you aren’t leaving the house.

Who isn’t a candidate for dermaplaning?
If you’re taking isotretinoin, you should stop six months before receiving dermaplaning. People with skin conditions like active acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, or sunburn may not be candidates for dermaplaning. However, our Denton team has a variety of services that can help alleviate these skin concerns and improve your candidacy for dermaplaning.
Can’t I just shave off my peach fuzz?
If facial hair is your main concern, you can just shave it off. However, dermaplaning offers other benefits. Dermaplaning also exfoliates your skin by removing dead skin cells. This reveals a newer layer of skin, improving your overall facial appearance.
Will my hair grow back thicker?
It’s a common misconception that shaving your hair will make it grow back darker and thicker. As your hair grows back, it may feel a bit coarser, but it will soften over time. Your hair may also grow back at a different angle, changing how it feels.
Are there any side effects to dermaplaning?
While most patients experience no or minimal side effects, they can include redness, swollen skin, irritation, cuts, and breakouts. Our team works to minimize side effects and provides instructions on how to care for your skin once you leave our Denton med spa.
